Barbie (2018 - 2020) challenges viewers to question the idea of fine art and craftsmanship through appropriation. A tongue-in-cheek approach to the common saying “My kid could’ve done that,” Barbie recontextualizes imagery seen in children’s coloring books by presenting them as works of fine art. The physical scale of the paintings dwarf the viewer to evoke a childlike experience, while simultaneously putting the technical execution of the paintings into question.
